Dr. Christina Bailey-Hytholt and Dr. Adam Snider successfully defend their Ph.D. theses

December 4, 2019 and January 14, 2020

Both Christina and Adam defeneded their theses and are both starting full time scientific careers in post-doc and industry positions, respectively.

Christina presented her work via poster and podium talks at BMES and AIChE while Kiara presented a poster at the AfroBiotech conference. Congratulations to both students on their successful presentations!

Congrats to Frank on his new Publication!

September 2017

Frank recently authored a paper titled "Dispersion of a suspension plug in oscillatory pressure-driven flow" in Physical Review Fluids, APS Physics. He investigated the dispersion of finite lengths of concentrated suspended particles, or suspension plugs, in a microcapillary as they are sheared in an oscillating pressure-driven flow.

Rachel came back from Kenya!

August 2017

Our Ph.D. Candidate Rachel Deraney just returned from her summer research project in Eldoret, Kenya. She worked in collaboration with Dr. Rami Kantor and Dr. Nyandiko at the Ampath Research Center. Rachel worked on viral load monitoring for HIV. Welcome back Rachel!

Ileana wins the Vincent and Ruby DiMase Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded annually to one student in the School of Engineering to recognize demonstrated research potential and to enable the student to undertake a project of their own. Congrats Ileana!

Jeray wins award for best Master's Thesis in the School of Engineering.

Our graduating Master's Student Jeray Thelwell won the Best Master's Thesis Award for his work on ___. He will now be starting his full-time employment at Perkin Elmer (MA).

Adam wins Rhode Island Space Grant

May 2017 

Adam was awarded the NASA Rhode Island Space Grant for his research proposal on microfluidic platforms to reduce sample volumes for scientific experimentation during space travel.
